Character Development

Hi guys is Meleana! In this first paragraph my teacher Mr. Sanderl asked us to share what kind of people we are and some imperfections. Im the kind of person that cares about her family and friends, and always worries about her grades. Im also the kind of person that likes to get her work done but also is a really big procrastinator.  Some funny imperfections that I have is that when people eat with their mouth open I get irrated by that. I also get irrated with the noise your mouth makes when you chew food like a cow. Another imperfection that I have is when someone says something or does something weird I slap them.

SOme character traits that I plan to exaggerate while animating myself is my humourous side. I will add in some dance moves like the dab. I will also add in the character trait of me being quiet and me being really talkitive . I also plan to exaggerate my stupidity. I feel like I know a lot of stuff because i'm in honors and G.T but then when I dont know an answer I usually have my friend ashley in those classes so I will be like, Ashley what do we do or Ashley I need help. I could add in my character trait of dancing and dabbing by using puppet warp. I could use the puppet warp to make my mouth move and have like the words from a text box. For me to ask really dumb questions I could add in a text box while using the puppet warp to move my mouth.

When I created my .GIF we first had to take pictures. Mr. Sanderl  my teacher took pictures of us in front of a green screen so that it would be easier to cut out. When we cut ourselves out we used the quick selection tool which " quickly selects" what your trying cut out really easyily. Next step to making our .gif animation is creating a new document with the name of KeaweM_Character. We then drag our picture that we cut out into that file. When you go into that file you have to make sure that it is in the window called animation. After that you pretty much add new frames and and new layer so that you can puppet warp. When you finish the animation make all the frames 0.1 seconds so it's fast enough to see it all and look interesting. When you finish it at the end make sure that you save it for web & devices. The lower the percentage the faster it will load.

.MOV Film Festival

Hey guys, Since we finished our tiny worlds project we decided to do either movie trailers or sitcoms for the .MOV film festival for Kauai. My team with Nick Koo, Brody Smith, and Ashley Alfiler decided to do a movie trailer on how boys often think that they are better than girls so we decided to make a video on how girls beat the and how their change of mind is. Some key words are differences, understanding, and rivalry. WE have to connect these words wit hour audience so ill be doing it one by one. Our audience should connect with understanding because they should understand how boys think that they are better then everyone else in some things. They should connect with rivalry because everyone has fights now and then and should have rivalries. When we think of difference we think of how they are academically and athletically. If you think about it everyone is different but boys and girls are really different.

In our movie every single one of us is in a scene. We have a scene where they are taking a test and they give each other glares and stink eyes. Then we have an athelic scene where they are racing and Brody trups and Ashley stops running and she goes and picks him up. THe overall message that is learned from brody and Nick and that girls can be better then them at somethings. At the beginnig of the trailer they thought that they were better then girls. In the middle Nick gets a C and Mele a gets an A, Brody trips and ashley goes back and helps him up. The overall message or learning experience is from both boys and how they learned that even though they may be good at these things girls can still beat them.

The biggest challenge my team faced was probably editing and filming. This was a big challenge because we had to re film the first two scenes at least 10 times. We had to re film  because nick was eating pizza, Brody was talking, it was blurry, or we were talking while it was filming. We had a challenge editing because we had voice overs with words so we had to line up the voice over with the b-roll. We also had to make sure it was the certain length of 90 seconds minimum and 3:00 minutes maximum. We also had a hard time finding the right sound effect that the computer had. We also had a hard time keeping our mouths shut because someone would be editing and we would be like " Oh put that scene in " or " Don't put that scene in I don't look good in it." We were mainly thinking about ourselves until we found out that it is better if we don't think about ourselves for a minute and we think about the greater good for the team the product or outcome will be much greater.

Tiny Spherical Worlds

Hey guys, I would like to introduce our new project. In our new project my class and I are making polar panoramas and spherical panos. Well composite images are created from combing several different pictures to go beyond the limitations of a camera. With one picture it wouldn't be as high quality as a normal picture. The point of composite images is to go BEYOND the limitations of a normal camera. A normal camera doesn't take 10 different pictures and put them together. When you take composite pictures it makes your picture better because you get one big picture to make it look really cool.

Two composite images we are doing right now is polar and spherical panos. Polar and spherical panos are different because polar panos look like little tiny worlds. Spherical panos look like a crystal ball. The polar pano looks like it could be a world in a world. It looks like a world because the background is black and the pictures is feathered so that it fades into the outer darkness. The polar panoramas also look more realistic because they have a feathered and black background. If you added some other planters with it it will look like a solar system.
So my finished and final tiny worlds will look very convincing because they have a black background and they have a feathered fade in it. The feather will make it look really cool because it acts like a fade and the world is in outer darkness. The other reason why it makes it look really convincing is the fact that it is in a ball and it looks like I'm standing in that ball. When I put my portrait in there I am going to make it look like i am coming out of the world because I'm gonna add a shadow effect on it to make it look like the sun is facing me and i'm not melting.

Hockney Style Joiners

My school photomontage of Ashley Alfiler

Hey guys, Welcome back. Mr. Sanderl my teacher, gave us a new project. THis project is about photomontages and David Hockney. SO first off what is a photomontage, a photomontage is a bunch of photos arranged to create a new picture or abstract art. Now that we know what a photomontage is, who is David Hockney. David Hockney is one of the most influential pop artist in the 20 century known for making photomontages. David Hockney's Photomontages are different then mines because mines are not taken correctly and his are taken with high quality camera's like the best cannons and nikons.

Positive quote I got on Google. PICTURE
Images can send all kinds of messages. Some can be positive and others can be very negative. One positive image for me on my instagram would be of daily scriptures that I read. Another example would be a picture of the beach and have a really good and uplifting quote. An example of negative messages is cyberbullying. People are very cruel and they like to bully others. WHen you post good things it will make people feel better about themselves and they will be more positive about themselves. WHen you post negative things that send a negative vibe things can get nasty because it means that you are bullying people and putting them down.

In my final photomontage I want my audience to see that I like to go to the beach. I also want them to see that I like to surf. In this picture I wanted to go to my favorite place to be and that was in Anahola.  I really like that I could get the horizon line to go actually straight and not all up down and look like the planet is all messed up. I think that if I moved a little more to the right I wouldn't get that coconut in the photo. Other than that I think that if I just add a little more color it would be perfect. When you look at my photomontage I wanted people to see both the sand and the ocean.

2016 Aspirations

Happy New Year!!! Now that I am in school again my teacher, Mr. Sanderl, has given us a post again. In this post we will be talking about our goals for 2016. I will be sharing 5 of my most important goals that I want to accomplish this year. A goal I want to accomplish this year is being able to take gnarly pictures that inspires me. Another goal that I would like to accomplish this year would have to be get better at surfing and bodyboarding. In 2015 I learned how to throw net and dive at night. This year I would like to become an expert at doing this. Overcoming my fear of heights and sharks is my main goal for 2016.Another goal I want to success this year is hike over 40 miles this summer and catch at least 1 goat and 1 pig. I would also like to get faster for sports and to just be in shape. I think overall most of my goals is too be fit and in shape.

The most important goal that I would like to accomplish this year is overcoming my fear of sharks and height. I would like to overcome these fears because I am going back to Disneyland and California adventure. I am going back to Disneyland because my Tutu is retiring this year I would like to celebrate it with us. In California Adventure there is this one particular ride I would like to go on called California Screamin'. The last time I went to disneyland I didn't go on this ride because I was too chicken but this year that will change. When you first go on the ride it starts off at like 60 MILES an hour!!! Then there is all those big dips and the dip at the end that is really high and I think that I would die but I will never know unless I try. Being able to conquer my fear of sharks would be wonderful because every time I go night diving or surfing I freak out. There is this one particular Hawaiian legend that talks about amakuas or guardians. My amakua's are the owl and shark.  I think that this should calm me down because it's supposed to be my guardian and protect me.

Sooooo in order to make sure that I get this goal down I will have to go through a series of steps. My first step for the sharks problem is to research on sharks and how to see if they are aggressive at the moment or not. My first step for my height problem is too ask my sister about how the heights really feel. THen for both my second steps I will practice it out on easy rides like the fireball and baby sharks on the south shore. When I get to the third step it will depend on how the second step and if it doesn't work out then I will research some ore but if it does work out then I will go in with even bigger things like Tower of terror and reef sharks. Then it will co e to the day when I can go into the water with blue sharks and lemon sharks and not get killed. I will also go on rides with the biggest drops like California screamin' and be happy. When this is all over my fears will be accomplished and I can learn something new about myself. In the end I think these are pretty easy fears to overcome because some people are afraid of clowns, lizards, spiders, and dogs so it can't be that hard to overcome.

Scratch Game Design

User experience influenced my games because I had no idea what was going on. Every time I had a question I really was like let me google this or let me find a game or even let me find a tutorial. One time I even learned how to make a very simple plat former game from a 8 or 9 year old girl and her father. My chase game was actually pretty easy to make because it was pretty strict and you knew exactly what to do and how to do it. I had no idea what was going on because it is very knew to me and I am not smart like all these new six graders like Meah, Tyler, and Alexis who actually made wonderful games.

Each of my games were pretty complex with all the coding. If I had to pick any of the games I made and games I'm gonna make it would probably have to be operation freedom. In both of my games they use very simple codes because I didn't want to push myself hard enough, I think that if I push myself really hard I could make a  game like Kyhler. In operation freedom some goals are that they need to be of your highest standards and really challenging, complex, and high-level directions and requirements. Both my games are very different one of them is very well thought and another has like 10 bugs in there that I am trying to figure out.

Chase game code
My best code was probably the code that was in my chase game. In the screen shot on the left it show my chase game code and I think that this was my best code because it had the best turn out then all my other ones. These codes turned out the best because they were fairly simple and I could do it without any bugs. My biggest bug was the bug that was stuck in my plat former. My plat former was bugged up because in the process of trying to make the backgrounds change so that there would be two levels were hard and the fact that when it started the words were not starting when the game started.

Invention Commercial

Hey everyone my teams goal for this assignment was to get the project done within the standards. I liked having the requirement of ENTERTAINMENT because we could have a little fun and we could get really creative. Another goal that my team had was getting it in on time. This was a major goal for us because we were kinda getting into it with each other. We were fighting with each other because we all wanted something but didn't want the same thing as each other. I was really scared when doing this project because I didn't think my idea would be good enough and thought that they wouldn't like it.

When we almost broke the car was would probably be team moment. We almost broke the car because we had the blow torch and we put it right by the car. When we were filming at a building we kept driving it off a ledge. By the end of filming we had to zip tie the middle of the car. It was really fun especially when we got together as a team and worked and made some treats for a fundraiser the next day.

While editing Ala and I shared most of he editing. Ala had most of everything because he's awesome at it. If you hatched the video he did an amazing job at talking and editing. Makaio was an awesome photographer and had a lot awesome shots. I have to admit that I can't do anything as good as them. When trying to film our last project I couldn't even talk into the camera because I stutter. When filming I have to give credit to them because they may not seem like they don't do anything in class but when we go out of school to film they are focused the whole time until we are done.
