Proactive or Procrastination?

I think that I am proactive because I get all my work in on time. I also think I am a proactive person because I do my work with almost a few days before and even if it is not required to type it I type it and figure out a  way to do it with good quality. I even am good during class and don't disrupt the class and do all my class work. I feel that I am proactive because I do good things and don't want to disrupt make anyone not learn anything.I love being a proactive person because you will get way better grades than  the people that procrastinate.

My level of productivity of is in the middle of high and low. Most of the time I have a lot of free time but when I have homework and I have two days to do it I usually don't do it until the second day unless it is really important. When I am at home I get straight to doing my chores so I have a lot of time to do my homework and then if I am lucky  I have time to go to the beach with my friends or play outside. When I am in school I get my work done around five to ten minutes before the bell rings so I can get to my next class or break on time to do my do now or get a few minutes more of lunch and recess to socialize with my friends. When I have really big projects for social studies I usually do it right before it is due while doing a little bit each day.

The thing I would change about my work habits would probably be to stay focused because that is the main reason I don't get most of my homework done. I try to start on my homework than my friend goes outside to play and then I want to play with her than I have to stay up late and do my homework and get up really late like around 6:30 and I am rushing around to get to school on time. I could also start working on doing my work a few days before it is do so than I have free time to do fun stuff. I would do this by making a reminder to myself that I need to do my work before I get to do fun stuff.
I would try to stay focused by thinking "You can go play outside after you finish this, if you stay really focused you can finish this in less than 20 minutes if you don't than you could be here for 2 hours. When I am at school I am proactive although when at home I procrastinate because there is more distractions at home than there is at school.

My Visual Poem

The next project after our Hiki No project was to create a poem by ourself. My poem was on being supported by family and friends. Visuals make an impact because if you just here the voice you can't make a picture out of what they are saying. I chose being supported because it is great and that if you make mistakes you have people to be there to help you back up once made that mistake because we aren't perfect. Visuals also help create an impact because the voice is just to help make you want to listen.

Special effects help affect the overall meaning because if you have a sad or depressed poem you can add shadows to make it feel darker. If you have a happy jumpy poem you can sparkles and happy stuff to enlighten your poem.I didn't really use many effects because I just started this program this year but I know next year my poem will be way better and have a lot more effects and transitions. I think that because of effects and transitions our poems can be really good but still have a few flaws.I know that because of effects you can have moods and tones in your poem.

So I am not very happy with how it turned out because I messed up at the beginning and the end.I could make it better by writing something instead of just leaving it there. I could also fix it by putting in a picture a the end so you don't see a building. I also should have made one of the descriptions shorter so it didn't mess up the other part. I know that because I didn't fix this my grade might go down and I guess that what my teachers told me is true. They told me " What you get is what you EARNED " I guess at first I didn't this but now I totally get and respect it.

Finished News Story

P5T7 Mrs. Julia Sanderl from Kapaa Middle School MEDIA on Vimeo.

The story my group and I picked was on Mrs.Julia Sanderl. Mrs. Sanderl helped us by letting us interview her during her free time and take b-roll while she was teaching her class. Some other people that helped us were Micheal Amoyo and Gabriela Bryan. They helped us by letting us interview them. The other people that contributed to the story was Lani, Ashely, and Talia. Lani helped us by editing with me and Ashley. Talia helped us by videoing the interviews and b-roll.

To me the final turned out pretty good. I we did the best we could do and that it might air on PBS Hawaii. I'm happy with what we did because I think that we did the best we could do. The final turned out good because it had transitions, really good interviews, and we even had labels for the people. Another reason why I think the final turned out well is because there was a lot of b-roll and no jump cuts.

I agree with both results because we had a few minor bugs that you couldn't spot out but it was there.I also agree with both results because there was a few that got way cooler b-roll and had a more interesting topic for other people.

Real World Report

A dog named Sherlock returns lost items to owners for kml airlines. The idea was a unique idea the airlines company came up with.Sherlock makes sure that all lost items get returned to the owner. If you lost something Sherlock would bring it to you like if you lost your phone or favorite toy. He smells the item then seeks out to find the matching smell around Amsterdam airport.

I think that Sherlock is a good thing because I have had some people in my family lose things at the airport and it was kind of stressful.I think that an airlines over here should do the same thing so than they can return lost things to the owners faster.I also thing that kml getting Sherlock was a great thing because Amsterdam is a big airport and if they didn't hire him it would take more than a day. Since getting lost things back to owners is important i think it was very important to hire Sherlock.

I think we should care because Sherlock is a really nice and helpful dog that returns lost things to owners.I also think we should care because people lose items all the time but if we had a dog like Sherlock here we wouldn't have to worry. Another reason why I think we should care is because the airlines people might not be able to run very fast or if somebody lost their phone and didn't have a computer how will they be able to contact them.

Lesson Learned

Week 6-7

The most interesting part of my project is learning how to work together to make something amazing because most of the time you can screw up on something it can be anything like having the mic sound be too high and the sound becomes static then you would pretty much have to do you interview again. So far my project is doing well and we have way more to do we are like barely half way there. For me something that would stand out would be the teamwork and how much cooperation we had since our project is due next week and the critique begins this week 9/18 we have been picking the paste up to be way faster.

The biggest road block my team handled was having to redo our interview on our interviewee. We came into this problem because our camera mic was not working and the sound was too high.Since our sound was too high the interview came out like static because of this we had to ask our interviewee if it was okay to come back and redo her interview. She was so cool and said yes, when we came back we made sure that the mic was working and the last time came out great. When you come to roadblocks with teams all you have to do is have good teamwork and you will pass that roadblock with ease.

The most valuable part of film making is knowing your camera. When you know your camera, film making gets much easier because you know what type of mode your supposed to be in and you know where to change the volume. Since we didn't know our camera that much our first round through doing interviews didn't do so well. The next time we did interviews we knew our camera way better so when we did the interviews the interviews turned out pretty good. Now I have learned that when you do not know the piece of technology you are using you could end up in big trouble because you didn't operate it correctly. Thanks to Hiki No  I  have learned a huge lesson have great teamwork and know how to use the things you are given to work with.

Back To School

My biggest moment would probably be getting into GT and Honors because the past few years I have been doing really easy stuff and I need more of a challenge.Getting into GT is a huge moment for me because it also gives you a challenge. Getting into GT was an awesome thing because the GT program give students a challenge. Since I got into Honors I have not been able to just cruise I have been able to actually get a little challenge.

Somethings that I will do to be successful is turning in my homework on time, coming to class before the bell rings and paying attention in class. Turning in my homework on time will help me be successful because if your homework comes in late your grade will come down and that will bring you down.Coming to class on time helps me to be very successful because walking in late means you probably just skipped something important.Last paying attention to me is probably the thing that would make you the most successful because if you don't pay attention in class you could miss your homework assignment or something your supposed to do.This was at the beginning of the year so wasn't really into what it was supposed to be.

Hiki No Behind The Scenes

Week 4-5

My project is on one of our KMS art teachers Mrs. Sandrel. My team and I  chose Mrs. Sanderl because she has been able to inspire many people with her art and she is a very good artist. The project is going well. I think it is going well because we have had good team work and cooperation. I think that when you have good cooperation and team work the work can get done with ease. Mrs. Sanderl was a good topic because she was very cool and when the interview sound was too high she said that it was fine to come back and redo her interview and interview some of her kids she also said that it was fine to come back and take b-roll.

When the camera is not rolling my team and I are writing the script or having conversations about what day we want the interviews to be and trying to edit our work. Since our rough cut of our project is due Wednesday September 17,2014 we are pushing the pedal to the medal to get this project in great condition for  television. When you only have about three people doing the work because one is absent it gets kind of hard because you have to do a lot of things in the in order to make this work. Since the camera is not rolling all the time there is other important thing to do other than video tape like edit or write the script or even just communicating with each other.

One thing I can do to help my team is communicating with them. I can help them by communicating with them because sometimes I have a hard time communicating  what feel. I also have a hard time to express what I know because I feel like what I say they wont like but now that I have been able to be apart of this project I  have learned to speak up.
