Scratch Game Design

User experience influenced my games because I had no idea what was going on. Every time I had a question I really was like let me google this or let me find a game or even let me find a tutorial. One time I even learned how to make a very simple plat former game from a 8 or 9 year old girl and her father. My chase game was actually pretty easy to make because it was pretty strict and you knew exactly what to do and how to do it. I had no idea what was going on because it is very knew to me and I am not smart like all these new six graders like Meah, Tyler, and Alexis who actually made wonderful games.

Each of my games were pretty complex with all the coding. If I had to pick any of the games I made and games I'm gonna make it would probably have to be operation freedom. In both of my games they use very simple codes because I didn't want to push myself hard enough, I think that if I push myself really hard I could make a  game like Kyhler. In operation freedom some goals are that they need to be of your highest standards and really challenging, complex, and high-level directions and requirements. Both my games are very different one of them is very well thought and another has like 10 bugs in there that I am trying to figure out.

Chase game code
My best code was probably the code that was in my chase game. In the screen shot on the left it show my chase game code and I think that this was my best code because it had the best turn out then all my other ones. These codes turned out the best because they were fairly simple and I could do it without any bugs. My biggest bug was the bug that was stuck in my plat former. My plat former was bugged up because in the process of trying to make the backgrounds change so that there would be two levels were hard and the fact that when it started the words were not starting when the game started.

Invention Commercial

Hey everyone my teams goal for this assignment was to get the project done within the standards. I liked having the requirement of ENTERTAINMENT because we could have a little fun and we could get really creative. Another goal that my team had was getting it in on time. This was a major goal for us because we were kinda getting into it with each other. We were fighting with each other because we all wanted something but didn't want the same thing as each other. I was really scared when doing this project because I didn't think my idea would be good enough and thought that they wouldn't like it.

When we almost broke the car was would probably be team moment. We almost broke the car because we had the blow torch and we put it right by the car. When we were filming at a building we kept driving it off a ledge. By the end of filming we had to zip tie the middle of the car. It was really fun especially when we got together as a team and worked and made some treats for a fundraiser the next day.

While editing Ala and I shared most of he editing. Ala had most of everything because he's awesome at it. If you hatched the video he did an amazing job at talking and editing. Makaio was an awesome photographer and had a lot awesome shots. I have to admit that I can't do anything as good as them. When trying to film our last project I couldn't even talk into the camera because I stutter. When filming I have to give credit to them because they may not seem like they don't do anything in class but when we go out of school to film they are focused the whole time until we are done.

Composition Scavenger Hunt

Hey everyone Mr. Sanderl gave us a little test on composition technique and I got all of them right except for leading lines. I thought leading lines was the most important because half the class got it wrong. I was one of those people because I didn't really get it but if Mr. Sanderl gave us another test I would ACE it. If I asked you right now would you say yes or no. If your answer yes your wrong even though the kite looks like it's leading to the person. Well now look at the next picture of the tire tracks on the beach. Would you guess that this is leading lines? Well this is leading lines because it is pointing to the trees in the background.Well now you  know a little bit about leading lines just like me.

The most difficult for me was color in contrast. Color in contrast was hard for me because I don't use it as often and don't know how to use it.I can use color in contrast for when I need thing to  pop out and stand out. Some things I could make pop using color in contrast is people, flowers, plants and even words on text. If you put people in whtie and put them by trees it is color in contrast because it's white with green. When I took my picture of color in contrast I didn't make it work because there were dead     flowers in it and they were both nature.

With my team of three there was Alakai Gonsalves, Makaio Gonsalves, and me. If you didn't know this already I don't want anybody thinking that Alakai and Makaio are brothers cause they are Cousins. Ala likes to Play basketball and he likes to build things. Makaio likes to play soccer and lives in Anahola. Makaio, Ala and I are really close so this project seemed easy but we didn't want to say anything that hurt anybody. I like to  do archery and hunt. In this project Makaio was like the model because all of us didn't want to really be in the picture. I was like the camera man because I was good at filming. Ala was the main editing man because he knew where everything is and how good it would be.

Cracking the Code

Did you know that famous basketball player Chris Bosh is learning to code.Yellow everyone, This project that we're working on is a coding project. Some of the sixth graders are saying we should learn how to do it. So I think everyone should learn how to code because it is very key in how to get a job. A lot of high paying jobs will except you if you know how to code because there isn't very much coders in the world. Even Famous people like Will.i.am even learned to code, You don't have to be famous to code but it may make you famous.

Have you ever coded before? Well the very first time i've coded was just a few weeks ago and it was pretty fun. I went onto code.org with Mr. Sanderl my teacher and did the very first lesson at first it didn't make any sense. I thought that the funnest one was the flappy bird lesson because it felt like you were making your own app with easy codes. It was really easy until level ten when you had to use the repeat button. Overall I think it was a very good experience because now I pretty much know how to code and can make my own app if I wanted to even.

If I could design an app that you can download onto any Device and it can give you ideas of things to do and if you need to buy anything it will tell u the exact place. I would create an app like this because sometimes I get bored and I want to go on Pinterest but it doesn't tell me where to buy the thing so with this app I would be able to do projects. I think that people would want this app on their phone because they want to bake stuff and make projects but they can't find where it's located. I would create this app using all the things that Mr. Sanderl taught me because I'm still not used to this. I would even use this app when I'm at home and is nothing to do and I can't watch a video because whatever reason and I'm just sitting there doing nothing.

My Humorous Monologue

What's up everyone!! The most important thing I've learned from this project was probably to copy your work before you edit it your HTML because on Thursday I had to make it all over because I deleted it all. I felt very stupid but then I looked at everything else I learned. Like how I learned that when you work with yourself it can be harder since you have no one to lean on except yourself. Especially since you have to work on a lot of sin a very short time and you always leave it for the week before the project is due. Another thing I learned is Patience because when working with yourself you always feel like it isn't gonna be the best and lower your self confidence. In all I learned that when working by yourself you can have a very very very hard time.

Pad is when you add extra rolling time to your film. You should add pad to your film because when you don't your voice or monologue gets cut off. I added pad to my film hopefully because I knew that it was crucial. I also did to my partners Ashley Alfiler and not sure if she did the same for me. If you haven't already you should go and check my work and see if I did. When you are finished watching you should go and comment and tell me if you did. When I think padding your clips I think of adding extra protection to my film.

Okay guys I don't want to admit this but my biggest weakness was the lighting. Lighting was my biggest challenge because I was filming on the inside of my house and the lighting wasn't very good. My biggest strength was probably getting my 5 year old brother (at the time 4) to help me with this project. I practically bribed him into doing this by telling him I would make him caramel popcorn, ice cream, and giving him money. One way I could improve is by leaving more pad not in film but in time. I should have left pad in time so I wasn't rushing and I could have added music, more transitions, and maybe even effects.

Comedy Writing

Hey this year I decided to introduce the project in each post. So in this blog post you are making a 30- 60 second joke video. Humor is an important character trait because most of the time it reveals who you are and how you act. Humor isn't just going on a stage and making people laugh because anyone can do that. Humor is about having empathy towards your audience and actually think about your audience. For example say your at a party with a bunch of Portuguese, you wouldn't be going around saying Portuguese jokes like " What did the Portuguese do at the stop sign? I don't know he's still there" kind of jokes. You would want to say something appropriate.

Okay so I will be giving you 5 tips on how to right a HUMOROUS narrative . One tip I would say would be to just use things in your everyday life that is boring and make them seem really funny. Somethings you could use can be dishes, laundry, siblings, school, and many more things. My second tip would be use sarcasm to make the most boring thing sound hilarious. When writing a story you probably want to make sure that they are appropriate to the audience. SO when going to a party and telling jokes make sure they are appropriate to that age group or ethnic group you will be sharing this joke with. If you are going to be publishing your joke you should try to stay away from ethnic joke so you don't offend anyone. One more tip I had in mind was to just be yourself in writing to speaking. When I say be yourself I mean use the same hand gestures you would when talking to friends or family. My last tip I would give you would be to be original and try not to copy a joke that is already made.

My comedic monologue was on my siblings and how they use to be super mean to me. I used sarcasm to make it sound funny. I basically did everything siblings do to irritate each other. I think it is funny because everyone knows that getting your toys and things your playing with taken away isn't fun but when I said it it sounded super fun. Another reason why I think my monologue is funny is because I used my everyday life to make it funny. I used things that made me annoyed and it turned out funny. When I had to come up with the idea I ton of ideas pop into mind and the very best one being my siblings. The way my siblings treat me because im older isn't always the very nicest like when they demand me to tie their shoe or make them dinner.

Motivational Poster

Some of the requirements are that we need 2 text layers one will have our Manifesto and the other will have our Personal quotes. 4 pictures are needed to make this complete, three picture were my symbolic pictures and the last picture was a portrait of my face. If I have all of these pictures and requirements then I will get a 4/4 or in other words an A. This Motivational project was due Friday August 28, 2015. Some of the design requirements were that all text layers should have been kerned so that there was no white spaces. I had a triadic color scheme which consisted of a light purple as the dominant color, a neon green as one of the harmonious colors and the last color was a bright orange. Blending options was not exactly an option, I added a bevel and emboss, a stroke, and an outer glow. Although you can't see my outer glow there is one. Color balance, levels, and exposure was somethings I used on my project, Curves was another thing you could have used but I don't always like using curves. TO distribute equal distribution I made it so that all the lines were kind of on the other picture. Since I did all these requirements I got a 4/4 on my design requirements.

Starting from the beginning I went to Photoshop and pressed command and N at the same time to make a project. Once I had my project I put my personal quotes into layer 1 and started Kerning the personal quotes into a box in the right had corner. Then I added a new layer and named it manifesto, I then copied and pasted my manifesto from my last blog post and Kerned that until I had it like I wanted it. I then had my pictures of me, clouds, my bow, and my friend basil the pig put into my document. I then made visual balance between my pictures and added my manifesto and personal quotes. I then added blending options in the colors neon, orange, and purple.

My biggest challenge was probably kerning. Kerning was the biggest challenge because it took the longest. I found out that having to kern is way harder then adding options on your layers or adding your options onto your pictures. I overcame this challenge by having patience with myself and my project. I also over came this challenge with the help of peer editing like having my friends say if it should stay like this or change it. I asked Julie, Ala, and Makaio if it looked good or not and they told me it was god but I wasn't sure. If I needed help with Kerning it right I asked them too, Even when I needed some of the letters to move more up to fix it I asked my 6th grade partner Tyler Tanaka.

Personal Manifesto

#gtsym1
Hey guys my name is Meleana and if you guys didn't know this I love to hunt and hike. Five  interesting facts about me are that I hiked over 30 miles this summer. I love to dive, throw net, and catch fish. I only have one sister and two brothers and I am the oldest of the family. I currently live in Anahola and go to the beach almost all the time. Currently I love photography and think that Silhouettes and sunset photography is the best because it looks cool. Somethings that i'm scared of is night diving because I start to think a shark is gonna bite me. Im also scared of big drops like California Screamin since your going up a hill at 60 miles an hour and drop straight down. My favorite color is purple.

Be happy often. Life is simple, Life is grand. Live life to the fullest. You are beautiful, think that everyday. Listen to the good, Keep out the bad. Explore. Travel. Dream big, even when your small. Discover. Learn. Grow. Eat. Love is patient, even when your not. Say yes to things you enjoy. Say no to things you don't. If you don't love what you do, Quit and do what you love. Don't give up. Stay living. Don't give up on yourself. Bound by fear. Bound by love. Bound by yourself. Wake up early. Go sleep late. Be awesome. Stay awesome. Love, Laugh, Live. Strength. Hunt. Travel to New Zealand. Hike.Practice. Cook often. Work out. Stay healthy. Live long. If somethings not working out, do something different.Share. Listen to music. Risk. DO it. Smile.

#gtsym2
I have just wrote a personal manifesto. My manifesto applies to my readers because everyone must be afraid of something and likes to stay awesome like me. I think that everyone grows, eats, and learns at least everyone. I'm pretty sure that you must love at least someone in your family and if you don't have family I'm sure you have a really good friend. I know that I'm lucky enough to have good friends and family and I want to thank my mom for helping me a lot in work.

Lyrical Livelihood

My favorite song is Sugar by Maroon 5. The songs lyrics make me feel very powerful and feel like I have someone that care for me. I like most of the chorus for that song like, Sugar yes please won't you come and bring it down on me. Sugars official music video  makes me laugh because they are crashing real weddings in L.A and the people are like what the heck but then the curtains go down and everyone just starts screaming. I think that this song is very catchy and that a lot of people listen to it. A group in our class is singing this song and I would like to see how they act it out.

My team this project was Makaio, Ala, and Me.The song  our team picked was Everybody got someone but me by Hunter Hayes. We picked this song because Makaio was like hey guys do you want to do the song by hunter Hayes featuring Jason Mraz. We didn't have any other song we agree to also. This song is mainly a love song and how they are at the park singing and everyone around them has someone to love but they don't. Jason Mraz is so desperate that he tries to engage and have a relationship with someone who is around 70 years old. Soon after this this old lady was soon approached by her husband who gave her the hearing aid she was missing. At the end both singer left the park on separate benches alone with no one.

The Visual story that our music video will show is three kids waking up doing their own thing and then at the end they meet each other. My job in this video will be lip syncing at the field looking at all the kids who have friends and people to play with. Makaio's job in this video is to lip sync and pretend to fall asleep in one of his classes and then wake up and start to lip sync. Ala plays a huge part in this story because he walks down the hall alone and films almost all the scenes and edits them with the help of me and Makaio. At the end we all "coincidentally" go to the park and meet each other. In the end instead of the ending that the music video gave the people we gave them our own twist, so that they would get friends and not be alone.

OUR STORY ANIMATION

P5T4 Asha Moves Away from Kapaa Middle School MEDIA on Vimeo.

Our focus statement was Asha Moves Away. In this short video there is both sadness and happiness. This focus statement tells our story because we thought that everyone could relate to it and we wanted to chose a very easy story. Almost all the other teams chose a happy topic with some sadness. In the middle of the story Asha moves away and Lani gets filled with sadness. She gets help from her conscience which was a bird, that we animated in photoshop.

The lesson our audience is learning is that if you have a loved one that moves aways than you should let them go. We felt that everyone could relate to this story somehow. Most people say "move on" because they don't want you to feel bad but for the people that have to deal with the situation don't think it is that easy. Sometimes the people could be your mom, dad, grandpa, grandma, or any other family member. In the end we hoped that our audience learned that the only way to let some one go if they leave to let                                                               them and hopefully they will come back.

Our worst moments as a team were probably at the beginning. These were the worst parts of our project because only me and Makaio would come in. At the end we would all come in for lunch because we knew it was important. We started to work together more towards the end. Our team could never meet after school because Lani has practice one day, the next day I had practice, then Makaio. In the end we created something very wonderful and we were proud of it.

Animation Outtakes

My teammates were Makaio Gonsalves, Lani Alo, and Asha McGinnis. Some interesting facts about Makaio is that he has 4 brothers and no sisters. He also likes the soccer team FC Barcelona, Makaio also lives in Anahola. Lani lives in Wailua and likes to surf. Asha lives by lani and she likes to surf as well. I guess their like twins because they like to do the same things.

Stop motion animation is where you take multiple pictures and load them into Photoshop and then you get an animation. To create a stop motion animation you take a bunch of pictures that describes what a person is doing, in this you can make it seem like someone is flying, sliding, front flipping, and anything you want.  GIF  is short for the words Graphics Interchange format. You can make really cool GIF with Photoshop, to export these gifs you go like this: File>save for web and devices and you want to chose around 16 to 128. We have been using these on our latest project. When you use Gifs you allow people to see it online.

Our group chose to tell Lani's story on how she once lost a very close friend. You should care because most of the time everyone goes through having someone of great meaning lost. Some of these people could be your grandparent, a best friend, your cousin or anybody close. We chose Lani's story because we didn't have anything else and we thought it would be pretty cool tho do a tragic story. Another reason why you should care is because everybody else chose like a happy topic and we wanted to be unique.

Typography Images

Typography  is the art or technique of arranging  written language to make it readable. Typography can be used with images to make an impact because if you typography you can relate to them. You can also make them think so they see your message. I believe that it is also used to Make a lasting impact in their brain. Typography is also the study of designs in the persons face. I also used it to express who you are to the world and show your inner self through words. Through typography I also think it makes the people be able to see your message.

My biggest problem I challenged in this project was probably copying and pasting the BW picture into the layer mask. I overcame the issue by reading the articles and instructions. Another way I overcame my problem was to ask for help from my peers. The video that I used to do my work helped me a lot because it told me exactly what I needed to do. The article that helped me was an advanced tutorial that helped me with my me picture, Mr. Sanderl my teacher also helped me with all three of my pictures.

My first picture of  Jonathan Ives  was different from the rest because the words were super tiny. It was Also different because it was black and white. Ms. Nakamura had many colors and some were even my favorite colors. It was different from the rest because it has colors that has the same thing, gradient over layer. My last picture of myself is probably my favorite because each layer has its own color. It is different from the rest  because each layer has a different color. It is also my favorite because it is not all one color like my last 2. It also symbolizes myself as who i am and not who I think I should be.

Double Exposed Portraits

Portrait photography is a photo of a person or a group of people that shows expression or personality of the subject or someone. The focus of the photo is usually the person's face although the entire body and the background may be included. Portrait photography relates to profile view and silhouetting because they all include the outlining of a person and the main focus in all of them is always the persons face. They also all have something to do with of course taking a picture of someone or a group. They are different because silhouetting is the color outlined black of a person, profile view is just a side of one persons face, and portrait photography is a main focus of someones face in the picture.

To create a double exposures  in photoshop you click on File>Scripts>Load Files Into Stack. Then a screen pops up you will  press browse and choose your photos, Then you press ok. Then you crop your profile and use the dodge tool too make your background white so your image only has your face as color. After that you double-click your layers and press screen mode for all of them. When your done with all of that you can press image and click new adjustment layer and explore and create your double exposure image. Remember avoid happy accidents. You want too make a double exposure because it looks beautiful with all the colors you choose and also because you would probably feel amazing about yourself for creating one.

My symbols are burgers from in and out burgers and Kalalea the mountain. I chose the burgers to represent me because I like to eat food and that was the best burger place I have ever ate at. Kalalea represent me because my great great grandpa died on that mountain and I can see it from my back yard. These are the  the reasons why I chose these pictures. I could have improved by moving the burgers up a little bit in my face. Kalalea could have gone more up like in my neck.

HDR Photography

HDR Photography is a method that takes multiple pictures and blends them together to make one amazing photo. In this project we took 7 pictures at different exposures we took the pictures from negative three (-3) to plus three (+3). I like it because it makes my pictures look more awesome and I only have to take 7 to get one amazing photo instead of 12 or more. The thing I don't like about it is that when you have your experiment they might move a lot and  when your in Photoshop they might have ghosting and Photoshop might not get rid of them. It is used for making the picture look like what the eye would see. sometimes the eye sees things that the camera can't see so HDR is there to make the picture look like what you would see.

Here are the six easy steps to creating a great HDR photos. The first step is to: control the exposure from lowest to highest you can do that by locating the plus and minus sign on your camera. The second and third step: is to import your photos and once you are done importing your photos you can organize them in finder then go to Photoshop if you have it. Step 4: Go into Photoshop and scroll over File<Automate< Merge to HDR Pro, then a box will pop up and press browse to find your photos. The fifth step is to : Create a photo that is great with the tools on your right such as vibrancy, shadow, radiance, and etc. The last step is to FOLLOW these steps to get a great HDR Photo. This is very different from the automatic HDR functions because in the automatic HDR functions you press a button and get the final result but with this one you get to do the work and make it your own.

This was the picture I took by the Fire station by Kealia
In the landscape photo I was trying to get a lot of the sky, ocean, and rocks in the same picture. The horizon line is straight in this picture even though I was taking this picture on gravel. The rule of thirds in this picture is pretty good because the rocks are at the corner of the picture facing the ocean. Then in Photoshop I made it vibrant so the blue and orange sky would be very orange then go into the normal color blue. My thinking for my Experiment photo was that I have my mom stand in middle facing toward the kitchen. I wanted the back round to have the word family and the two pictures my friends mom took. My mom moved very little so it came out pretty cool. The only thing that I probably failed at was the part where you had to make it surreal  she looks the same as she did before except only brighter.
This was the picture I took of my Mom

Movie Trailer Critque

While we were making the movie poster we were also making a movie trailer. The team that helped me with this project was Alaka'i Gonsalves, Kacie Burns and Kyla Bautista. Our movie trailer was on a boy named Bobby falls a sleep. In his dream he becomes an evil villain that wants to steal the towns most precious Oak Tree. Some other main characters are the agent and his mom. My part was to help to edit, the main person that did a lot of the work was Alaka'i. He took all the time to take the pictures and I think he took around two hundred pictures the second round and five hundred pictures the next time. Another part I did to help my team was take some of the Foley for it.

Some of the requirements were that the trailer had to be 1:30-2:30 seconds long. It also had to have 5 scenes in it; It also had to have a voice actor, our voice actor was Alaka'i. Some others were that it had to have a movie poster. It also needed dialogue, Foley and Text layovers. I completed  all of them; I just barely missed the length one because our movie trailer was 1:31 seconds long. We also took a lot of time during class to do our work but we made it happen and had it meet all the requirements. Although we didn't do something we did others and made it get done.

For the results you had three areas to be graded in. The first area was Audience, most people thought we did really good. Then you have creativity, most people thought we shot for the stars. The next area was Requirements meaning did you have all the things you needed. Yes, I do agree with the class results because we tried our hardest and we may not have included the audience enough or even meet all the requirements but we did our best. I learned how to work together as a team and how to use final cut pro a little more. Now I know that even if you tried your best than to yourself you should feel like you succeed. I also learned that not everyone has the same idea so your plan might not be the plan everyone wants and that you should always communicate what you want to do because other people might like it. In the end I found out that it is better to have a team to help you out and that when you get
